The Journey of Tractors: From then to now

The word tractor is originated from the Latin word “trahere” which means to pull. Generally, tractors are used for drawing, pulling or towing heavy objects which are difficult to move by conventional means. Tractors are commonly found on farms and are used to push agricultural machineries to harrow or plough fields, making it an extremely valuable piece of equipment.

In the 1800s and early twentieth century, tractors were powered by steam engines. Such tractors were replaced due to the instability of the steam engine that may result in an explosion.

Modern tractors are built with an ROPS i.e. Rollover Protection System, which makes it safer to use. Before the invention of this technology, many farmers had to slog hard on their farms or risk the dangers of unsafe tractors.

Advanced technology has played a vital role in modernising the tractor. These days you may find farm tractors with anincluded onboard computer and Global Positioning System (GPS) for vehicle tracking. Today’s tractors are more efficient to complete the task in even less time.

Apart from the standard farm tractors, there are different types of tractors available in the market. There are backhoe tractors used for small demolitions, construction and light transportation. You can fit engineering tools to the tractor for digging holes, paving roads and breaking asphalt.
